Boston, Massachusetts, February 7, 2019 — Indigo Ag, Inc., a company dedicated to harnessing nature to help farmers sustainably feed the planet, announces the appointment of Jennifer Betka as Chief Marketing Officer. As Indigo’s first CMO, Betka will develop Indigo’s global brand.
Agriculture is one of the world’s largest industries, representing $3.2T in global GDP. Stakeholders across the agriculture supply chain, from growers to consumers, stand to benefit from the application of digital and scientific innovations to the way our food and fiber is produced and distributed. Indigo’s business model and full suite of digital and microbial technologies are transforming the agricultural system from within. Betka will steward this shift, aligning and engaging a community of growers, buyers, and consumers through creative expression of Indigo’s story, products, and mission.
“Throughout my career, I have been committed to brands that enrich people’s lives,” Betka said. “Indigo is making a vast impact at a time when the effects of climate change have shifted conversation to action. By bridging consumers’ desire for transparency and access to healthier food choices with products and services that accelerate the adoption of more sustainable growing practices, this company has introduced a complex portfolio of solutions that touch the entire supply chain. This, in itself, creates a unique and exciting brand opportunity.”
Betka has global brand-building expertise, stewarding the growth and evolution of category-leading consumer brands over the past two decades. Most recently, under Betka’s leadership, StubHub was elevated from a secondary ticketing platform to a champion of unique experiences, operating as the world’s leading ticket marketplace in over 40 countries.
Betka’s other strategic marketing and management tenures include Fandom, where she spent four years positioning and growing the top 20 global site, cultivating well over one hundred million of the most authoritative fans and introducing new and innovative fan stewardship methods for some of the world’s most beloved pop culture properties; the Los Angeles Times, where she revitalized the iconic media property and guided it through the early digital revolution; and Sirius Satellite Radio, where she and her team launched pioneering streaming products and debuted mega-personalities to the new subscription-based listening audience.
“Indigo is bringing together stakeholders from across the agriculture industry, including farmers, buyers, and consumers, to drive a more efficient and aligned food system,” said David Perry, Indigo’s President and CEO. “Stitching together our story and conveying the value of Indigo’s pursuits requires an adept marketer, one that understands the complexity of the services Indigo offers, the good that we can deliver, while exhibiting empathy to the many voices of our constituents. Jennifer exudes this understanding and spirit.”
Betka will divide her time between Indigo’s Boston Headquarters, North American Commercial Hub in Memphis and Los Angeles.
