Bharat Vaidyanathan

Bharat Vaidyanathan joined Flagship Pioneering in 2024. As Director of Immunology at Pioneering Medicines, he is responsible for leading Immunology programs and supporting the Immunology pipeline.

Bharat is an immunologist with 14 years of combined experience in academia and the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining Flagship, Bharat was a Principal Scientist in the Immunology group at EMD Serono Inc. In this role, he was a preclinical project lead responsible for discovery biology efforts in Neuroscience and Immunology.

Bharat completed postdoctoral training at Yale University studying physiological allergic responses and the impact of glucocorticoids on developmental plasticity in the immune system. His work has resulted in several publications and patents in Immunology research.

Bharat earned his Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis at Weill Cornell Medicine/Sloan Kettering Institiute, and a Master’s in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta.
