Grigori Guitchounts

Grigori Guitchounts joined Flagship in 2022 as an Associate with the Pioneering Intelligence initiative after completing the Flagship Fellowship as an AI Fellow. At Flagship, he works to leverage AI in the creation of platform companies and ML capabilities.

Grigori was trained as a neuroscientist and neural engineer. Throughout his academic career, he created tools to advance the recording of neuronal activity and behavior. His PhD focused on closing the virtuous loop of using AI to understand the brain and the brain to advance AI. His research utilized the latest AI tools to understand multi-terabyte datasets on visual processing and behavior; those findings inspired novel algorithms for visual neural networks that use behavior to predict visual features.

Grigori has written several reported pieces and essays about science for the general public. He uses writing to explore complex scientific and philosophical questions while also engaging the broader public with fascinating discoveries.

Prior to Flagship, Grigori was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School. He received his PhD from Harvard University, where he was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow.
