Jeroen Tas
Associate
Jeroen Tas joined Flagship Pioneering as an Associate after completing the 2021 Flagship Fellowship. At Flagship, Jeroen works as part of a team of entrepreneurial scientists to originate and develop novel first-in-class biotechnology platform companies. In this role he is responsible for establishing the vision, strategy, and operations of new and existing portfolio companies from concept to growth phase.
Jeroen earned his Ph.D. in Immunology in the laboratory of Facundo Batista at the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard, where he studied B cells, antibodies and germinal center responses in context of vaccine design. Specifically, his work focused on elucidating the effects of previously elicited antibodies on the outcome of subsequent humoral responses. Prior to graduate school, Jeroen worked in the lab of Gabriel Victora at Whitehead Institute, where he studied the evolution of B cell diversity within individual germinal centers over time. Jeroen has been recognized with several awards for his work, including a CHAVD Young Investigator Award, and his research has been published in high-impact journals including Science, Nature and Immunity.
In addition to his Ph.D. from Harvard University, Jeroen also holds a M.Sc. in Biomolecular Sciences and a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
