Tom Ruby
VP Strategy & Operations
Tom Ruby, PhD, joined Flagship as VP Strategy & Operations in 2022. An experienced entrepreneur, Tom has created and built multiple start-up life sciences companies. At Flagship, Tom contributes to Flagship’s strategic and operational objectives, including the origination of new ventures and development of advanced companies.
Prior to joining Flagship, Tom built multiple new innovative platform companies. He was the CEO and member of the Board of GrapheneDx, Inc., a company developing an innovative consumer diagnostics platform technology. Prior to developing GrapheneDx, Tom was CEO of InnoVoyce, LLC, a medical company focused on voice health, developing a portfolio of technologies.
Tom was previously an Associate Partner in the McKinsey & Company Boston office where he worked with the world’s top biotech and medical devices companies on a wide range of R&D, commercial, and corporate development topics to help them successfully bring innovative solutions to patients. Prior to joining McKinsey, Tom co-founded Miret Surgical, a surgical device platform start-up.
Tom is the co-author or co-inventor of over 20 publications and published patents. He trained as a postdoctoral scholar in Immunology and Microbiology at Stanford University and holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genomics from the University of Paris XI.
Tom serves on the Board of the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing the next generation of classical musicians.
