Senior Vice President, Leadership & Development

Tyler Durham joined Flagship Pioneering in 2024 as Senior Vice President of Leadership & Development. He works with the Flagship Senior Leadership Team to drive a comprehensive talent management strategy including talent and leadership development, people analytics & data science, and employee experience and culture enablement including diversity, inclusion and belonging.
Prior to joining Flagship, Tyler served as the Global Head of Talent and Organization Effectiveness for AstraZeneca. He was previously the Vice President of Leadership & Organization Strategy at Alexion Pharmaceuticals and was with Prophet and McKinsey & Co. as a senior leader in their respective Organization Practices. Earlier in his career he was a Senior Consultant in Deloitte’s Human Capital practice and was a Captain in the U.S. Army.
Tyler’s passion for leadership and exceptional talent and cultures was inspired by his time as an officer in the U.S. Army leading over 300 missions to help implement the Dayton Peace Accord in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He worked with NATO allies and international NGOs to help end the civil war, establish the country’s new borders, repatriate displaced citizens, facilitate free & fair elections, and usher in democratically elected leaders all within 18 months – forging an appreciation for what it takes to make change happen in the real world under the most demanding circumstances.
He earned a B.A. from Wake Forest University, an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University and is a graduate of the Omnicom University Senior Management Program, a two-year executive education program in partnership with Harvard Business School and Babson College. He is a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Army’s Ranger, Airborne, and Air Assault schools and he regularly volunteers with organizations supporting veterans and their families.
